The Wigtown Book Festival, taking place each autumn in Galloway, is always one that presents interesting challenges. This year we had the hugely renowned expert, Dr Fraser Hunter coming along from National Museums Scotland, to talk about the Romans in Scotland. So, a Roman soldier would make an ideal standalone photo, but where do you get a convincing uniform? 

I spent some time Googling and frankly the results were pretty miserable - until I found Clanranuld which offered a range of options at a reasonable price. They took care in making sure that I got the outfit I needed and knew how to put it on properly, which was a big help. But something I especially enjoyed was looking round their warehouse. It's just packed with fantastic costumes of so many kinds. Which means if I happen to need a medieval soldier, a barbarian warrior, Viking, peasant or even an alien invader I know where to find them.
