Cleaning Policy

Client Cleaning Policy

All our costumes and weapons come in varying conditions and breakdown levels. Each item has its own care instructions that we ask customers to follow before returning the items back to us.

Customer Responsibility: Customers are advised to handle items with care and follow the specific care instructions provided with the item to maintain their quality and appearance. After use, customers are responsible for ensuring the item is clean and free from any significant stains or damages. Light cleaning, such as spot cleaning, is recommended to preserve the costume's condition. When renting weapons and armour from our armoury, we also ask that you follow the care instructions provided below. Failure to do so may result in items becoming damaged or unsafe and dangerous. Any items used in simulated fights for screen, theatre or live events should be done so by trained professionals and under the supervision of an armourer.

Professional Cleaning Services: For costumes or weapons requiring extensive cleaning, customers can enquire about professional cleaning services available at the store for an additional fee.

Damage Assessment: Any costumes or items from our armoury returned in a heavily soiled or damaged condition may be subject to additional cleaning or repair fees.

Care Instructions

All garments and weapons care instructions can be found alongside the items description on the website. Most of our garments fall under 3 different types of fibre (wool, cotton and synthetic) which we have detailed below how to care for these fabrics. We also have a large range of real fur's, full pelts, leathers, weapons, and armour, so we have provided some more in depth details on how to care for these pieces to ensure the correct and careful up keep of these delicate pieces. Many of our items do not have care labels or fabric composition labels on them, and there are a few items that the material is unknown. For this reason we ask that clients use a gentle detergent when cleaning their rented garments and keep washing temperatures low. Fabric softeners are optional on our cotton or synthetic garments but never on wool.

Wool care instructions:

Gentle wash 30 degrees with no harsh chemicals, hand wash or dry clean. Do not tumble dry! Please be conscious of washing other garments along side wool items that have metal or other heavy attachments. Wool stains easily, and unlike synthetic fibres, these stains can be much harder to remove. Our best advice is to treat the stain as soon as it appears, as waiting will increase the risk of it becoming permanent.

Cotton & Synthetic care instructions:

Gentle wash 30-40 degrees to prevent colour bleeds, shrinkage or fading, or dry clean. Do not tumble dry! If the garment gets stained, like the wool its best to treat as soon as possible. If renting an item for a extended period of time, specifically cotton, try to avoid washing the garment too often as this may compromise the shape, colour and quality of the garment.

Fur & Leather care instructions:

- To get rid of odour off a garment, put fur or leather into a vinyl garment bag and hang it up in an open space. Place an open bag or container of ground coffee inside (around 32g) at the bottom of the garment bag, ensuring the coffee is not touching the garment. Seal the garment bag and put somewhere out the way, to try avoid coffee spillage. Check daily, it should take 1-3 days for the odour to disappear. Do not leave the fur or leather in the bag for to long stop it from drying out.

- To clean or remove stains off fur, hang the fur up, brush through it gently. Make a solution of 1 part isopropyl alcohol and 1 part water and spray directly onto the stain. Gently use a white cloth or rag to rub the stain, the alcohol will prevent any water stain forming. Be sure to use a white cloth to prevent any colour transfer onto the fur. Allow to dry thoroughly in a well ventilated area.

- When storing your fur or leather items, keep them well ventilated and away from a direct heat source, such as a radiator or heater. Never use heat on fur or leather to dry them, and never put them in the wash machine or tumble dryer!
